Thank you for joining us on this journey! My name is Faythe and I live with my soon-to-be husband, Ian on our 8-acre homestead in mid-Michigan. Ian is a volunteer firefighter and runs his own welding business out of the shop on our property. I am a part-time registered veterinary nurse, which I love, but my true passions lie outside of work. 

 

I spend my days off doing things that bring me so much joy and for that, I am beyond grateful for. I run my goat milk soap business, I care for our small farm, I prepare nourishing meals, I grow and preserve much of our own food, but possibly my favorite way I spend time is creating content for you.

So how did we end up here? Ian and I grew up in a big city where we both always felt disenchanted with life. We craved fresh country air, wide open spaces and most importantly, we craved freedom. These desires led us to purchasing our property where our need for freedom grew even greater. It is the thing that led me to taking charge of our food source, learning how to cook from scratch, choosing handmade over store bought goods, supporting local, and so much more.

 

This way of living is what I often refer to as intentional living. To me this means stepping out of autopilot by making conscious decisions that are based on values that are important to you instead of just following the status quo.

I want to stress that anyone can live this way! I believe in that statement so deeply that I created this blog entirely around the topic of teaching and inspiring you to do so. You don't need a big piece of land or to call yourself a 'homesteader' to achieve this. All you need is a desire for a life more meaningful and intentional than the one you're living right now.
